Belknap was born in Damariscotta Maine. The parents of her were David and Louise Belknap. She was a student at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle Maine. When she was at Middlebury College in Vermont she began to develop an interest in performing. When she earned her master's diploma from the School of Fine Arts, she studied at the American Conservatory Theater. Belknap is a part of a variety of television credits including series regular roles on Medical Investigation, Third Watch, ER, The Handler and Deadline. Also, she played the privilege of guest-starring in Law & Order Law & Special Victims' Unit as well as Without a Trace. Belknap debuted in a film, The Reality Trap.
