Awkwafina
American actor and musician Awkwafina debuted with sly hip-hop tracks that addressed sexual identity and race with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before increasing her presence in Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her very first musical experience. She performed on the trumpet. Later, she began the classical and hip-hop genres. When she was in high the school, she focused on journalism and woman's studies. She studied Mandarin during a time in Beijing. It wasn't until she graduated that her focus shift to music. Following her viral success on the Internet the song My Vag was a reaction to the song of Mickey Avalon's My Dick. It eventually was included on the debut album Yellow Ranger. The album also contained also were viral songs like Queef (body-positive) and NYC Bitche$1. The final track was closely linked to Awkwafina's NYC travel guide published in 2015. Following a career that was successful as a performer and songwriter, she decided to take on the role of an actor. Alongside early TV shows that included Girl Code and Tawk - she was in films Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018, she scored major roles in a variety of high-profile movies like Dude Ocean's 8, and Crazy Rich Asians. In June she debuted her debut film, In Fina We Trust.
